• JOÃO ALMEIDA, Prof. Dr.

    Partner

João Almeida has been practicing structural engineering for three decades, always with the ambition to design simple, efficient and elegant structures. While quality of delivery is the fundamental principle guiding João Almeida's attitude in engineering practice, contributing for the development of concrete structures is his overarching aim. He is a Professor of Concrete Structures at the University of Lisbon, dedicating most of his research time to design models for structural concrete and to sustainable structures. His work was internationally recognized in 2012 with the Fédération Internationale du Béton Medal of Merit in “recognition for outstanding contributions to structural concrete”.

  • MIGUEL LOURENÇO, Prof. Dr.

    Partner

Miguel Lourenço may be the youngest partner in our engineering office, but he is definitely one of the most creative engineers in our team. He is a true believer to the motto “form follows function”, which is evident in all his structures, whether they are a building in Luanda or a landmark structure in his hometown Lisbon. His main research field is “stress field models for structural concrete”, in which he has been consistently working for the past fifteen years: from a PhD student in Lisbon / Stuttgart to a convener in the struts and ties work group at the fib - Fédération Internationale du Béton. Miguel Lourenço is also a lecturer of structural engineering at Setubal Polytechnic Institute, in Portugal.

  • JOSÉ CÂMARA, Prof. Dr.

    Partner

José Camara’s vast experience spans three decades, both practicing structural engineering and lecturing as a Professor of Concrete Structures at the University of Lisbon. His main areas of interest are prefabrication and imposed deformations in concrete structures. Like his engineering office partners, he believes that knowledge is to be shared. José Camara has more than 80 publications, ranging from scientific papers to technical reports. He also cooperates actively with relevant associations, like the Portuguese Engineering Council, of which he has been the head of the structural engineering specialization or at the fib - Fédération Internationale du Béton working groups, from over twenty years.
